Short Films
Here are the short films I have worked on.
Feel free to give feedback by contacting me.
Virtuaalimetsä (2007)
Virtuaalimetsä is a short film made by JokuRandom group which was formed in a school course in TKK. It is a funny drama of a game (WoW) addict and his girlfriend. The film is written, directed and edited by me. Toni Laitinen and Aino Paloviita made excellent job as main characters of the movie. Toni Laitinen also made the storyboard of the film. Jaakko Assola did some additional editing.
The film is ~17 minutes long and can be downloaded here (xvid, 169MB).
The following YouTube video is a special 5 minute preview of the movie with somewhat different story.
The Last Hope (2005)
The Last Hope is a Star Wars fan film produced by Miesmacher that is a showcase of some great special effects. The short film competed in Assembly'05 short film competition and placed fourth as The Saberianist did.
The editing, which was done by me and Jaakko Assola, was done using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. We used greenscreening in many scenes. The film is about 4 minutes long and can be downloaded here (106 MB) or seen from YouTube:
Ender (2003)
Ender was a short film made by me to my high school's, Olarin lukio, ending party. It is filmed entirely in the PC game called Quake and mixes gaming and real life elements together. It is filled with inside jokes related to the high school.
I used Adobe Premiere and After Effects to edit this movie. The film is not available publicly. If you want to see the film contact me.
The Saberianist (2002)
The Saberianist is a Star Wars fan film produced by Miesmacher filled with great special effects. The short film competed in Assembly'02 wild compo competion and placed fourth.
The editing, which was done by me and Jaakko Assola, was done using Adobe's excellent programs: Premiere and After Effects. We used greenscreening to mix computer graphics with real life scenes. The 3D models were done by JuzaDee using 3D Studio Max. The film is about 7 minutes long and can be downloaded here (67 MB) or seen from YouTube:
Commando (2002)
Commando is a 13-minute short movie produced by Clan GunSlingers that is filmed entirely inside the Return to Castle Wolfenstein PC game. Directed by me I found out it to be an extremely fun, challenging project. For example, it was really fun to figure out how to record scenes with a smooth, circular camera movement. The game mechanics does not able it easily. Commando was heavily inspired by the great PC game called Commandos.
The film was post-producted by me with Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Download the movie here (91 MB).
The Bunny Force (2001)
The Bunny Force is Miesmacher's first Star Wars Fan Film recorded with a camcorder. It is very hastily filmed and designed but the special effects are quite nice. A quite many of the effects are made with the technique called rotoscoping, which basically means frame by frame editing. It is a very time consuming process to get good results. The program I used to do the rotoscoping was Adobe Photoshop. The video, which is 5 minutes in lenght, can be downloaded here (45 MB).
Quality (2001)
Quality is the first production of Miesmacher, the film that started everything. When we saw the great Star Wars fan film called Duality we decided to try to make our own film. We did not have any decent video equipment so we used a webcam. The quality of the film is very poor as the name parodies. It doesn't have any speech so we used balloons. If you are still interested, download the short film here (19 MB).
